Sherry Jackson, Chair of the Education Committee, presented the
second $500 scholarship to
JORDAN KASEY ADAMS on June 8, 2009.  
Jordan is a graduate of South Johnston High School and will be attending NC
State University majoring in Elementary Education.  As stated in her own
words, “my career ambition is to become an Elementary teacher using my
passion for teaching and my commitment to motivate and inspire my students
to learn.  I believe in myself and I know that I can overcome any obstacle
references describes her as “self assured, well organized, and is willing to
help others whenever the situation arises”; and another as “a hard worker
with an excellent personality”.
Royal Williams, Vice-President, presented the third $500 scholarship
to
STEPHEN GRAY on June 9, 2009.  Gray is a 2009 graduate of North
Johnston High School and will be attending NC State University majoring
in Criminal Justice.  His career goal is to be a SBI or FBI agent.  His
reasons for choosing this objective are best stated in his own words, “I
see this as the greatest goal because I want to be able to look back on
my life as an old man and be able to say I have made a difference in
someone’s life, and I believe the best way for me to complete that task is
by tracking and taking down criminals who prey on the innocent and
disrupt or even harm the American way of living”. One of Gray’s
gentlemen his age do not.  He is confident, well-spoken, and hard
working.  I have never known Gray not to achieve what he set out to
accomplish.  He has a no quit attitude”.

Dr. Norwood Williams, President, presented the Organization's first
$500 a 2009 graduate of Clayton High School and will be attending
Campbell University majoring in Pharmacy.  Her career goal, as she
stated, “is to own my own pharmacy business to represent giving back to
the describes her as an “up and describes her as an “up and coming
young African American woman whose blend of talents and skills comes
packaged in a wonderfully shines with a humility and glows with
professionalism”.
These scholarship awards are only made possible through the generous
contributions of our Organization Members.

Special Thanks to our members who helped these three young people take their first
and most important step towards the attainment of their dreams.
